Galaxy Note 8 - Big news for Samsung fans could be bad for the iPhone 8

SAMSUNG'S Galaxy Note 8 will launch at a major event next week and a new rumour suggests it may go on sale as early as August 24 - weeks ahead of Apple's iPhone 8 release date.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 could go on sale immediately after launch
Samsung's latest Note 8 flagship smartphone will get its grand unveiling at a major event next week with it expected to include a swathe of new features.

Rumours are rife that the all-new Note will come packed with a huge Infinity display which will curve around both sides of the device.
It's thought this 6.2-inch AMOLED screen will also be pressure-sensitive, very similar to the one Apple debuted with the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus back in 2015.
Upgraded processor, dual-lens camera and improved facial/iris recognition are also likely to tucked inside this device along with an updated S Pen which will offer a more precise experience when it touches the screen.
Although the Note 8 is being unveiled on August 23, it was thought that it wouldn't go on sale until September but a new leak may prove Samsung has other plans.
According to a Reddit user, the Korean technology giant may begin selling the Note 8 a day after it launches.
This would mean fans of the device could have it in their pockets on August 24.
The release date rumour is apparently backed up by a Best Buy Mobile employee and confirmed through both Verizon and Samsung channels.
If this does become a reality it could be bad news for Apple's iPhone 8 which isn't expected to be unveiled until early September.
With a new Note 8 already in stores, smartphone fans could be tempted to upgrade long before Apple's new device is even launched.
It should be noted, however, that Samsung has never released a device so soon after the launch day so it's possible this latest rumour won't turn out to be true.
And many experts believe that although pre-orders may go live straight away, the device won't be available until weeks later.
Samsung will be hoping that its latest Note smartphone will help put the problems of the previous Note 7 device behind them.
Last year saw this device suffer major battery issues with some users reporting that their smartphones began catching fire.

Samsung recalled all Galaxy Note 7 devices saying that the fires and explosions were caused by defects in the battery.
