Apple plan to launch Low Cost 5G iPhone soon

 

Apple is planning to launch a low cost 5G iPhone one of the update to the SE model with improved camera and processor.

Apple Inc is targetting a data on or near March 8 to unveil a low cost 5G iPhone and an updated iPad. 

The new iPhone will be the first update to the iPhone SE model in two years and wilk feature 5G network capabilities improved camera and faster processor.

In October Apple announced two new MacBook Pro models thay run on mobile powerful in house chips.

Expected launch still more than a month away Apple plans may change in the face of production delays or other changes.

Company did not immediately respond to Reuters request for comment.

Cupertino California based Apple is overcomming the costly global shortage in computer chips and posted record sale over the holiday quarterly in January beating profit estimates and forecasting that is shortfall is narrow.

WhatsApp: How to Stop Auto Saving of photos on Android Phone


WhatsApp downloads automatically photos lot of users complain this is annoyance, usage of data and storage.

WhatsApp is regularly used by 1.5 billion people arround the world. Popular chat platform is incredibly successful it allows poctures, videos and even files to be send for free. But the drawbacks as the app downloads automatically media to your phone.

How to stop WhatsApp saving photos on Android:

Open WhatsApp application and go to the where chats are shown.

Then select Settings, the three vertical dots on the top right hand side.

Head to Media Auto Download where you will encounter three options. When using cellular data, when connect on Wifi and when roaming.

Disable auto downloads by unchecking all three options images, Audio and Videos.

You will have to download photos sent via WhatsApp to view them.

WhatsApp saves this media in a folder found in your phone Gallery.
However it is possible to stop these photos from appearing here.
Download and open the Quickpic app then nevigate to the WhatsApp media folder.

WhatsApp folder is typically found in internal storage sometimes labbeled sdcard0.

Long press the WhatsApp images folder to select it and do the same with WhatsApp Video and WhatsApp Audio folders.

All three folder are selected tap the three dots icon on the top right to Hide it.

How to stop WhatsApp saving photos on Apple iOs:

Open WhatsApp and select the Settings button in the buttom right corner, select Data and Storage Usage.

This menu will prominently present the Media Auto Download option.
For Photos, Audio, Video and Documents select Never Option.

Now only files you choose to download manually will appeR on your phone.

WhatsApp media can additionally be prevented from appearing on iPhone Camera Roll.

Simply visit Chats in the Stting Menu, open the save to Camera Roll Menu, and turn it off.
This settings will stop media sending via WhatsApp from appearing up in the Apple iPhone Camera Roll and taking over your synced Photo Stream.

As new iPhones go on sale, studies reveal chips from Intel and Toshiba


Apple Inc’s latest iPhones hit stores around the world on Friday, featuring components made by Intel Corp and Toshiba among others, according to two firms that cracked open the iPhone Xs and Xs Max models.

The studies by repair firm iFixit www.ifixit.com/Teardown/iPhone+XS++and+XS+Max+Teardown/113021 and chip analysis firm TechInsights here, published this week, are among the first detailed teardowns of the phones, which reviews suggested were a subtle upgrade from the tenth anniversary iPhone X.
Supplying parts for Apple’s iPhones is considered a coup for chipmakers and other manufacturers. While Apple publishes a broad list of suppliers each year, it does not disclose which companies make which components and insists its suppliers keep quiet.
That makes teardowns the only way of establishing the breakdown of parts in the phones, although analysts also recommend caution in drawing conclusions because Apple sometimes uses more than one supplier for a part. What is found in one iPhone may not be found in others.
Apple could not immediately be reached for comment.
The breakdowns listed no parts from Samsung and no chips from Qualcomm Inc.
Samsung in the past has supplied memory chips for Apple’s iPhones and was believed by analysts to be the sole supplier of the costly displays for last year’s iPhone X.
Qualcomm has been a supplier of components to Apple for years, but the two have been locked in a wide-ranging legal dispute in which Apple has accused Qualcomm of unfair patent licensing practices.
U.S.-based Qualcomm, the world’s largest mobile phone chipmaker, has in turn accused Apple of patent infringement.
Qualcomm said in July that Apple intended to solely use “competitor’s modems” in its next iPhone release.
The iFixit teardown showed iPhone Xs and Xs Max used Intel’s modem and communication chips instead of Qualcomm’s hardware.
The latest iPhones also had DRAM and NAND memory chips from Micron Technology and Toshiba, according to iFixit’s study. Previous teardowns of the iPhone 7 had shown DRAM chips made by Samsung in some models.
TechInsights’ dissection of a 256-gigabyte storage capacity iPhone Xs Max, on the other hand, revealed DRAM from Micron but NAND memory from SanDisk, which is owned by Western Digital Corp and works with Toshiba for its supply of NAND chips.
Toshiba’s chip unit Toshiba Memory was purchased by a private equity-led consortium earlier this year that Apple joined.
In the past, TechInsights found Apple used different DRAM and NAND suppliers in the same generation of phones.
“For memory – Apple obviously competes with Samsung and wants to reduce their reliance as much as possible – so totally consistent that we’d see Toshiba for NAND flash storage and Micron for DRAM,” Morningstar analyst Abhinav Davuluri said.
Jim Morrison, vice president of TechInsights, said in an interview that it appeared that one of Dialog Semiconductor’s chips had been replaced in the iPhone Xs Max by one of Apple’s own chips, but it was not yet known whether that also applied to the iPhone Xs.
Dialog declined to comment. In May, the company said Apple had cut orders for its chips.
IFixit and TechInsights technicians also found components from companies including Skyworks Solutions, Broadcom, Murata, NXP Semiconductors, Cypress Semiconductor, Texas Instruments and STMicroelectronics. Source

How to Make Your Phone More Secure


Just like computers, smartphones have their security flaws. There have been many examples of Android breaches, with the Kapersky Security Bulletinproviding the recent example of the Android version of the Pegasus mobile espionage software, known as Chrysaor.


While the consensus is that Apple’s iOS is more secure than Google’s Android OS, all phones remain vulnerable to the latest chip vulnerability to be exposed: Spectre.

Additionally, in September alone last year Sophos Labs found that more than 30% of the ransomware it identified was on the Android platform, and there are an estimated 10 million Android apps that are categorized as ‘suspicious.

Given the rise of mobile malware, users need to be constantly vigilant and make sure that their phones are secure, and here are six ways you can do that.

1. Lock your phone:

 

Enabling a phone to lock itself when not used for a short period is a cornerstone of keeping the device secure. When the phone is locked, it prevents others getting access to the device, and all of its data data and apps.

While years ago locking your phone was a bit of a pain, modern smartphones offer a variety of unlock options, including fingerprint sensors and facial recognition, so you no longer have the excuse that it’s inconvenient to have to unlock the phone when you want to use it.

When you configure the lock settings you can specify the number of minutes before your phone locks, so specify a short interval of only a few minutes to make sure an unattended phone is locked down if found. The phone should also default to the lock screen after a restart, and require a PIN, not a fingerprint or other less secure shortcut, for the initial unlock to offer a higher level of security.

2. Keep the OS up to date:

 Android users continue to face the fragmentation of their OS. The most common version of Android in use as of February 2018 is Nougat (7.0, 7.1), with a 28.5% market share, but only 1.1% of Android phone users are running the latest version, Oreo (8.0, 8.1), while the five-year-old KitKat (4.4) still soldiers on with 12% of the market, according to Fossbytes.

The situation is better, but far from perfect, in the Apple camp. While the latest version of iOS, 11.2, does have the highest market share at 70%, there’s a persistent minority of users still on earlier versions, such as the 10.1% who are on version 10.3, which is approaching a year old and doesn’t offer all the latest security updates.

Android users continue to be quagmired between phone manufacturers not releasing the latest updates for their handsets, and then carriers not rolling them out, leaving users potentially vulnerable to new threats, a situation that Google is seeking to address with its latest attempt to facilitate Android updates, Project Treble.

Our recommendation would be that if your phone is no longer being updated, then it’s time to start shopping for a new one. When looking for a new smartphone, in addition to other features, look for a phone that’s likely to receive updates over the long term. This makes an argument for choosing a more popular flagship that’s more likely to get plenty of update love over its lifetime, or a Google Pixel phone that will be well supported with updates.

3. Avoid insecure brands: 

Some phones have a reputation for receiving more frequent updates, such as the aforementioned Google Pixel line, and Apple iPhones that continue to get updates for several years. However, with other smartphones it’s quite the opposite.

In February the issue of phone security reached the level of a congressional hearing in the US, with intelligence officials warning that phones from Chinese manufacturers Huawei and ZTE should be considered insecure, and going so far as to accuse these phones of spying on US citizens. And last year budget phones from Blu were pulled from Amazon due to privacy concerns.

In general, sticking to more mainstream brands that have a high profile in the market, rather than second- or third-tier products, is the safer choice.

4. Encryption:

With all the data that’s on your smartphone – emails, contacts, financial apps and more – it goes without saying that if the phone is lost or stolen you don’t want a crook gaining access to it. The solution is to encrypt the phone’s storage, so that if it falls into someone else’s hands the data is protected.

5. Scan for viruses:

 Mobile devices are increasingly susceptible to malware, including ransomware. Even the Google Play Store continues to be plagued with malware, with unreputable programs attracting an astonishing 4.2 million downloads, including the ExpensiveWall hack that masqueraded as a wallpaper app. The solution, just as when downloading software to a laptop or PC, is to be wary of downloads from less mainstream vendors and unverified sources, and to scan periodically for viruses and malware.

While Windows desktop operating systems come with Windows Defender to guard against malware, mobile platforms don’t yet have a default antivirus program. The easy fix is to download and install an anti-malware app, and we have recommended choices from reputable vendors for both iOS and Android.

6. Don’t jailbreak your phone:

A subsection of iPhone users have a reputation for ‘sticking it to the man’ by jailbreaking their devices, believing that in order to get the most from their phone they need to free it from Apple’s built-in restrictions on which apps and extensions they can install. Android users can do something similar, although the term here is to root the device, rather than to jailbreak it.

The problem with doing either is that it enables users to download unauthorized apps that may contain malware. For example, back in 2015 the KeyRaidermalware that targeted jailbroken iPhones, and resulted in 225,000 Apple accounts, including passwords, being found on a server.

That attack, however, pales in comparison to the more recent CopyCat malwarethat affected 14 million Android devices, and even rooted eight million of them without the owner’s knowledge. The source of the malware was popular apps downloaded from sites other than the Google Play Store.

From a security standpoint, the best practice is to not jailbreak your phone, and stick with the original OS to avoid exposing the phones to malware and other threats. source

Android 8.0 Oreo is here, but here's why you won't be able to install

Android 8.0 Oreo was unveiled by Google earlier this week to coincide with the solar eclipse across the United States.............
Android 8.0 Oreo is the latest version of the phone and tablet operating system.

Google launched the latest version of its hugely popular operating system Android 8.0 Oreo at an event in New York City earlier this week.

The launch follows months of beta release and tweaks from the US technology company, Android Oreo includes a slew of tweaks and minor improvements to the smartphone and tablet operating system.

The eight major software iteration includes notification dots on app icons, picture in video playback and auto fill to quickly security enter passwords and other personal information in website forms.

Oreo will also restrict background apps from draining the battery to help eek more usage from each charge.
Google has completely overhauled its emoji design ditching the Flubber like blobs in favor of a round design closer to those seen on the iPhone.

However, some what confusingly despite the launch even in New York City last night you won't find an outstanding update waiting for you on tour android smartphone this morning.

Following the release date, Google has pushed android 8.0 Oreo out of developer preview and public beta and into its Android Open source project.

This enables third party android smartphone manufacturers Samsung, HTC, OnePlus, LG, Huawei, HMD Global to start working on the operating system for their own devices.

Different smartphone manufacturers work to different timescales to roll out the latest version of android to their hardware.
The number of tweaks to the design and functionality of Google operating system can also determine how long it takes to appear on third party devices.

As for those running Google own hardware like the Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, Pixel C, Google Pixel, and Pixel XL the California based company has confirmed that android 8.0 has entered carrier testing._

It expects the new operating system to be available as an over the air update from the setting app in the near future.

The final version of Android Oreo will be pushed out to those signed up to the program today.

iPhone 8 release date may see the launch of another exciting new device

APPLE'S iPHONE 8 look set to be released next month and it could launch alongside a fully updated Apple Watch Series 3.

The iPHONE 8 is just weeks away from its official release date with Apple to reveal a smarphone packed with updated features.

All rumors point to a phone that will include an edge to edge AMOLED display which will the entire front of the device.
Upgraded processor new camera and wireless charging are also thought to be this year generation gadget.
The iPHONE has just celebrated its 10th birthday and this anniversary model is likely be the most advanced smartphone Apple has ever created.
However, although excitement around the new iPHONE 8 continues to grow it may not be the only gadget Apple unveils at its September event.
Rumors are rife that an updated Apple Watch is also coming, with US news site CNBC claiming this latest wearable will be launched alongside the new iPHONE.
This new smartphone could feature a faster processor, bigger battery and similar design but perhaps the biggest change could arrive in the form of LTE version.
By including the addition of an in built chip-set the Apple Watch would get great independence from the iPHONE.
At the moment, the Apple Watch has to be connected with paired iPHONE over Bluetooth or WIFI before the device can make phone calls, receive notifications, download new music and apps, and more..


Including a mobile signal in the watch would allow the device to do all these things without being near an iPHONE.

Last year, Apple added GPS to the APPLE WATCH SERIES 2, which allows the smartphone to track outdoor runs, cycle and provide turn by turn navigation without a paired iPHONE nearby.
Unfortunately, there is still lot we don't know about the rumored inclusion of LTE in the APPLE WATCH 3.
Presumable, Apple will still set models of the Watch without LTE like it does with IPAD and change a premium for this feature.
Since its launch in 2015 the Apple Watch has proven to be hugely popular, far outselling all of its rivals.


Apple hasn't released official numbers but CEO Tim Cook recently revealed that sales of its wearable have nearly doubled year over year.
In fact, during this month earning call, Cook revealed that demand was "so strong" that Apple "couldn't" make enough".
He went to say the company is thrilled with the response it's seen to the wearable device.
